The email comes from noreply@notify.cloudflare.com. On Outlook or Hotmail, check junk and the Other tab.
The five messages, and the fix for each
"Sign in free to run this tool."
This device does not know you yet. Enter the email your BTD emails arrive at and tap Email my sign-in link. The free sign-in opens the printables and the question form; the free interactives run with no sign-in at all.
"The 30-day sign-in on this browser has ended."
Your 30 days ran out. Enter your email and tap the new link, and the next 30 days start. Everything you own is still there.
"You need an internet connection the first time you open a tool on a device."
Reload the page. On wifi that asks you to accept terms, open any other website first, then come back. On a school or work network, try your phone on cellular. Once a device has signed in, the tool runs offline, so open it at home before a trip.
"That access link didn't check out."
The link is past its 3 days, or an email or text app cut it in half. Get a new one and tap it straight from the email. If you paste it, paste all of it.
"This page comes with a complete Better Together Diabetes guide, and your sign-in does not include it yet."
Your sign-in works; this item is its own purchase in the Store, as each world, the Every World pass, the Duet and each complete guide are. If you bought it minutes ago, tap "Use a different email," enter your email, and the new link includes your purchase.
A new device or browser: each one signs in on its own
Signing in on your phone leaves the kitchen tablet signed out, and Chrome and Safari on one laptop sign in separately. Add every screen you want; the worlds have no device limit. The fastest way is to open a tool or app link from a BTD email on that device. Or enter your email on that device and tap the link on that same device. Clearing history or cookies signs you out, and a new link brings you back.
Setting up a world on the screen your family looks at
- Open your world from the access link in your confirmation email. Nothing to install.
- Any TV with a browser runs it, or cast a tab from a phone or laptop. Tablets make good kitchen-counter worlds.
- Run different worlds in different rooms if you like.
- Name your creature. The day your kid asks how Shelly is doing instead of what your number is, the world has done its job.
- Sound starts off. The speaker button plays a soft chime for high and a low hum for low, heard only in the room. If it stays quiet, tap the world once, then the speaker.
Add it to your home screen. On iPhone or iPad, open the world in Safari, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen," then Add. On Android, open it in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, then "Add to Home screen" or "Install app." It opens full screen. If the creature looks frozen after hours on, tap the screen or reopen it.
Permissions. The worlds never need your location, camera, microphone or contacts. If something asks, say no and write to me.

Glucose Boombox and Story Pattern: two files you download and open on your own computer
Download one file, double-click it, and it runs in your browser on your own computer, with no sign-in. Bring in a CGM export and it turns that day into music or a story. Nothing you import leaves your computer. If an import will not go, find your message:
- "Could not read that file." The file is not a spreadsheet: usually a PDF report, a screenshot or a zip. Export the CSV option instead, and unzip it first if it arrived in a zip.
- It found no readings. The export is probably a summary or an empty date range. Export the raw readings with the longest range offered, and check the range has sensor data in it.
- It asks which column is the time and which is the glucose. Your file is fine. Point at the time column and the glucose column, pick mg/dL or mmol/L, and it reads the file in about fifteen seconds.
- Nothing happened when I picked a file. The picker only accepts spreadsheets. Drag the file onto the drop area; if that does nothing, export the CSV version.
- My days landed in the wrong places. A short export can mix up the day and the month. Export 90 days so the file reaches a date past the 13th, and every date reads correctly.
- The song, video or image would not save. Close other tabs, reload, import one day, and export first. If video keeps failing, try another browser or save the still image. Your file stays untouched.
- An iPhone will not open the video. A file ending in .webm came from Firefox or an older browser. Export again in Chrome, Edge or Safari for an .mp4.
- There is no sound. Press Play once more, then check your computer's volume and the drum volume slider.
Questions about the worlds and the downloads
Is this a medical device?
No. The worlds and the two downloads are creative, artistic displays of your data. They are not an accurate medical chart, diagnostic tool, or clinical record. No healthcare oversight is provided, and they must never be used for medical assessment or treatment purposes. Your CGM app, your meter and your care team own every decision about insulin, food and treatment, so keep every alert your care team set.
Will it alarm or notify anyone?
Never. The Dexcom app does alarms. If sugars run low, friendly helpers swim or wander in on screen, and that is as loud as it gets.
What do the colors mean?
Blue is low, green is just right, amber is a little high, and red is high, in every world. The creature's size, posture and face change too, so you can read it from across the room.
Does it work without internet?
The worlds run offline after the first sign-in on that device. Glucose Boombox and Story Pattern run offline always, even the first time.
Is my data uploaded?
In the worlds, each viewer sees only the account they signed into. Glucose Boombox and Story Pattern have no upload at all: turn your wifi off, import a file, and it plays the same. What you save out contains no name and no account, so share it on purpose.
Do I need a Dexcom?
The worlds run on a live Dexcom Share connection. Glucose Boombox and Story Pattern read a file from any of the systems in the next answer, and a file from last spring works as well as today's.
Which CGM exports work, and where do I get mine?
Dexcom Clarity, FreeStyle LibreView, Nightscout, Medtronic CareLink, Glooko, Tidepool and xDrip+, plus any spreadsheet with a time column and a glucose column. Sign in where your reports live (clarity.dexcom.com, libreview.com, carelink.minimed.com, my.glooko.com, app.tidepool.org, your own Nightscout site, or xDrip+ settings), choose CSV, pick the longest date range, and save it where you will find it. Dexcom Clarity is tested against a real export; LibreView, Nightscout and Tidepool follow their published formats; CareLink, Glooko and xDrip+ are our best reading of formats those companies never published. mmol/L converts on its own. How many devices does a download cover?
Glucose Boombox covers your household on up to 5 devices: computers, phones and tablets. Story Pattern, when it opens, covers two devices: a computer and a phone or tablet. It runs on trust: the apps never contact me to count. If your family needs more screens, write to me and we will work it out.
The email never came.
Check junk, spam and Outlook's Other tab for noreply@notify.cloudflare.com. Wait ten minutes before asking again, because quick repeats slow sending down. If nothing arrives, use the address your BTD emails come to.
Does it work on my TV?
Yes, if your TV has a browser or you can cast a browser tab to it.
Can grandparents open it from their house?
Yes. Anyone you share it with signs in with their own email and sees the same world.
Can I buy just one world?
Yes. Each world is $12 in the Store, and the Every World pass brings all eight paid worlds for $49.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If a world you bought does not make your home calmer within 30 days, write to me and I will refund it.
